Design Options For Honeycomb Shades in Bonita Springs

Honeycomb shades are a fantastic choice for those seeking the most energy-efficient window treatments available. In this post, we’ll dive into the specific design options you can choose from when selecting your shades. We will cover pleat sizes, fabric and color selections, opacity levels, and fascia designs to help you customize the perfect look for your home.
Fabric Options for Honeycomb Shades
Our honeycomb shades are available in two distinct fabric types: Spun bond and Spun lace. While both are crafted from 100% polyester, they offer different benefits for your windows.
-
Spun bond: This material is lightweight, making it incredibly easy to raise and lower. Because of its weight, we can create extra-wide shades—up to 174″. Spun bond is remarkably strong, tear-resistant, and treated to resist dust, dirt, and stains. Because the material is slimmer, it also offers a smaller “stack” at the headrail, providing a clearer view of the outdoors when the shade is raised.
-
Spun lace: This material is thicker and softer to the touch than Spun bond. It is an excellent choice for sound absorption, helping to quiet a room. However, because it is more absorbent, it should be handled gently, particularly during cleaning. Due to the thickness of the fabric, it creates a larger stack at the headrail. Spun lace is also highly effective at hiding internal cords and is available at a more accessible price point.
Pleat Sizes and Color Variety
At SunCoast Blinds, we offer a wide range of pleat sizes to fit any window scale. Our collection includes:
-
3/8″ and 3/4″ pleats
-
Double cells (for maximum insulation)
-
1-1/4″ pleats
-
2″ Hybrid pleats
As a general rule, larger pleats complement larger openings, while smaller pleats suit smaller windows. Finding the right fit can be a delicate balance, as not every color is available in every pleat size. Ultimately, it’s about finding that perfect combination of hue and scale that speaks to your style.
The design possibilities are nearly endless: the Spun bond line offers 265 choices, while the Spun lace line features 263 varieties. There is, without a doubt, a perfect match for every interior.
Understanding Opacity
Opacity refers to how much light passes through the fabric and how much “view-through” you have. We offer four primary levels:
-
Sheer: Offers 60% UV protection but provides no privacy. This is most commonly used as one half of a TriLight shade.
-
Semi-Sheer: Provides minimal privacy while creating a soft, diffused glow. This is a good option when you want to remove the worst light and glare coming through your window, but don’t have any privacy concerns.
-
Light Filtering: Our most popular option. It reduces glare and sunlight while offering a moderate degree of privacy. This would be a good option for any area in your home.
-
Room Darkening / Blackout: Specifically engineered to block out all light and provide total privacy—perfect for bedrooms or media rooms.

Fascia and Headrail Customization
Our honeycomb fascias are available in three different sizes, which are determined by the pleat size you select and the operating system of the shade. Regardless of those technical specifications, you have two primary aesthetic options to choose from: Painted or Fabric-wrapped.
Painted Fascias (Standard)
The painted headrail is our standard offering. To ensure a seamless look, we provide 24 color options designed to coordinate perfectly with your chosen fabric. This allows the hardware to blend beautifully with the overall design of the window treatment.
Fabric-Wrapped Fascias
For a more integrated and high-end appearance, you may choose a fabric-wrapped fascia for a small upcharge. This option covers the headrail in the same material as your shade, creating a uniform, continuous look from the top of the window down.
